Well, I’ve never run an 8K race before…
Dear St. Patrick’s Day 10K Registrant:
We want to take this opportunity to let you know about a couple of changes to the St. Patrick’s Day race in Washington, DC.
After almost a year of effort and the development of numerous courses, we were unable to get a 10K course approved by the District of Columbia government for the 2006 race. Fortunately, a new certified 8K course was developed this year for another race from Freedom Plaza, and we have received approval to use that course instead.
We are in the processing of updating the race Web site, and have posted the map there. Another change is that the post-race festivities, Irish dancing, food, and awards ceremony will be held at Freedom Plaza instead of the Old Post Office Pavilion. We hope the 8K distance will be a welcome change, especially at this time of year. Except for the shorter distance, the race will be the same great event you have enjoyed in the past. We have a wide array of prizes lined up, the award-winning dancers from the O’Neill-James School of Irish Dancing to entertain you, and good post-race refreshments.
Please check the race Web site for further details as they are developed. We are in the process of updating the Web site, so you may not see all changes and updates right away, but please check back: http://www.runwashington.com/other/stpat02list.html. Also, confirm your entry on our List of Registered Runners to verify the spelling of your name, your age, and sex. Last names A through G: http://www.runwashington.com/other/stpat03signups1.html. Last names H through N: http://www.runwashington.com/other/stpat03signups2.html. Last names O through Z: http://www.runwashington.com/other/stpat03signups3.html.
We will send another update next week to keep you informed.
Thanks for running with us. See you on March 12!
Cool runnings,
