Went for a run after work in Rock Creek Park, and there’s a little picnic area right next to Peirce Mill. I ran alongside it a few times, but the last time I did so, the sun dipped just under the tops of the trees. Instantly, a huge pocket of cold air was released from Rock Creek itself and a massive wave of fog started to roll off of the water. It was one of those amazing and almost-magical moments that make me glad that I’m crazy enough to still be running 15 years after I first started, because there’s no way I would have otherwise seen that happen.
