Just a casual evening run with Charlie on Sunday night; we just wanted to get out and move a little bit, but nothing too big. This hit the spot pretty well; we spent most of it running through the area in-between Clarendon Boulevard and Arlington Boulevard, looking at houses as we ran up and down the streets (and hills). A nice evening.

Oops, totally forgot to post this earlier. I had a chance to squeeze in one last run Friday after work before heading out of town, so I picked up 4 miles on the W&OD Trail in Vienna. Very sunny, and and finding parking was a bear because of all the “Viva! Vienna!” setup, but all in all a nice run.

Originally I was going to run on Tuesday—but thanks to tooth pains all Monday night I was really not feeling it at all on Tuesday. I had a training class on Wednesday morning, but just enough time to get over to the gym and run four miles on the indoor track. Indoors was the right call for Wednesday, since it was occasionally spitting rain and hail that early in the morning. Eek!

Today was a quick four-miler; I was contemplating going further but I was still feeling a little stiff from Monday’s 9-miler, so I decided not to risk it. It was definitely a faster four-miler than I was doing a few months ago, though, and I was pleased at my pace for the first two miles since they were going uphill. Even better, I saw Casey from spinning out on the trail (she’s training for a triathlon), and then a few minutes later, Rachel from AIDS Marathon out with a cycling group. It’s always so great to see familiar faces out there!

B-Day Run

My plan for Thursday was to get into work early, so I could leave around 4:15pm and have started my run at 4:45pm. (We had dinner reservations at 7pm.) Time I actually got out of the office? 4:55pm. *sigh* Really didn’t have time for anything more than 4 miles, so I made them quality miles and that’s what counts.

I’d wanted to get Tuesday and Thursday runs in this week before the half marathon on Saturday—but I was feeling horrible on Tuesday, to the point that exercise of any sort just wasn’t going to happen. Instead I squeezed in a run today after work, which was better than nothing. Not too bad, nothing huge to report, just a gorgeous day outside.

It was such a nice day that I decided to hit Tuesday’s run after work today, instead. (Originally I was going to run it this morning, but I didn’t get much sleep last night.) It was really beautiful out, 60 degrees and cool. Actually, the last mile was a little too breezy; I was wishing right then I had on long sleeves! Best of all, though, is how consistent those first three miles were. Especially two days after running an 18-miler, no less. Yay!

I also ordered new shoes from my local store this morning; none of their locations had them in stock (I have to wear 2E wide) and while I could have ordered them online, especially in this economy it feels good to support the local economy. Doubly so when Pacers always does such a good job of organizing local races and the like! Hopefully they’ll show up before the half marathon on the 21st. The current pair of shoes have about 400 miles on them so I can certainly use them through the race, but that’s really about it.

After skipping Tuesday’s run due to feeling sick/tired/rundown/overheated, it was nice to not only get running on Thursday, but to do so outside and in shorts. Miles 2-3 were a bit of a climb, but of course miles 1 and 4 were slightly downhill to compensate. It just felt nice to get out there, a pity the temperature is supposed to drop again this weekend…
