Anniversaries

Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.25 miles
Average pace: 9:51 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 79 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 206 miles
Current Shoes: 300 miles

All sorts of anniversaries today. My shoes hit 300 miles, my relationship w/ Charlie hit 8 years, and somewhere around this date 14 years ago I went on my first non-school-mandated run. Woohoo!

Leaden Legs

Start time: 4/28/2015, 5:37 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7 miles
Average pace: 9:59 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 72 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 199 miles
Current Shoes: 293 miles

Sooooo not feeling Tuesday’s run. Just dragging from start to finish, but I pushed myself to the end, at least.

Sligo and Beyond!

Start time: 4/26/2015, 4:17 pm
Location: Sligo Creek Park, MBT Trail
Distance: 8 miles
Average pace: 9:58 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 65 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 192 miles
Current Shoes: 286 miles

Neither Thursday nor Saturday’s runs were going to happen for a variety of reasons, but managed to squeeze in an 8-miler with Charlie on Sunday. A little warmer than I’d have liked in parts, but on the whole it was a good run. (And with some nice company, too.)

Soregoing

Start time: 4/21/2015, 5:40 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 6.1 miles
Average pace: 9:58 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 57 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 184 miles
Current Shoes: 278 miles

Had a (much) longer than expected bike ride on Sunday after the better part of a year off, and was definitely feeling it even on Tuesday. Oof! Cut the run a mile short and called it a day.

No Child Left Behind

Start time: 4/18/2015, 7:02 am
Location: National Mall, Penn Quarter, Howard University, LeDroit Park, Capitol Hill
Distance: 8.06 miles
Average pace: 10:21 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 51 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 178 miles
Current Shoes: 272 miles

Ben, Steve, and I were a mile into our run when Stephanie came charging after us… turns out no one had received her email saying she was coming. Oops. But power to her for catching us!

No gyrocopter here

Start time: 4/16/2015, 5:37 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.27 miles
Average pace: 9:59 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 43 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 170 miles
Current Shoes: 264 miles

Ran around the Capitol today as part of the run, but didn’t see any new gyrocopters, alas. Also ordered some new shoes. (But not while running.)

Finally, the rain

Start time: 4/14/2015, 5:38 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 6.02 miles
Average pace: 9:49 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 36 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 163 miles
Current Shoes: 257 miles

After several threats of rain last week, it finally happened this Tuesday. Downside was that I was drenched and finally cut the last mile off of the course so I could get into some dry clothes. Upside was we were all moving a little faster. 🙂

Cherry Blossom-palooza

Start time: 4/11/2015, 7:10 am
Location: Southwest Waterfront, Tidal Basin, Mount Vernon Trail,  LBJ Park, Rock Creek Park
Distance: 9.3 miles
Average pace: 10:40 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 30 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 157 miles
Current Shoes: 251 miles

We ran our annual pilgrimage to the Tidal Basin on Saturday to see the Cherry Blossoms; had to start in Southwest DC because the Cherry Blossom Parade had taken over the Mall. Add in a detour through LBJ Park and it was a scenic (if slow in places due to crowds) run.

Chasing Wet Pavements 2

…second verse, same at the first.

Chasing Wet Pavements

Start time: 4/7/2015, 5:35 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.15 miles
Average pace: 10:19 min/mile
Total Miles For April: 14 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 141 miles
Current Shoes: 235 miles

It was supposed to rain this morning… but aside from a sprinkle before I got out there, nicely managed to dodge it. Hurrah! That said, since it was also 57 degrees, rain is no longer automatically a run-killer like it was a earlier this year…
